I grew up eating traditional “soul food”, collard greens, fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, creamed corn and my mother’s famous peach cobbler, and upside down pineapple cake, need I say more. I also love “junk food”. I didn’t struggle with my weight, but I didn’t feel healthy either. My mother suffered with uncontrollable high blood pressure and was forced into early retirement.I wanted to have a different outcome. I started the program in May 2010 and by the end of June I lost 10 pounds and reached my ideal weight of 125 lbs. My needing to lose 10 lbs. was no harder or easier than someone needing to loose 50 or more lbs. My legacy for my children is that they can choose habits that support health. I am amazed at how easy it was to lose the weight and now to keep it off. I can’t believe I wake up wanting to exercise, and I feel good.
