As I was preparing for the announcement that I would post my pic every 5 lbs that I’m down I realized that I was not going to be successful without planning ahead. Engineering your goals is a powerful way to set yourself up for success. I follow two steps in doing this.
Step 1:
1. Write down your health goal (long or short term) then…
Do a Brain Dump. Think of all the action steps you can take to help support your goal, important ideas, strategic ideas to help you navigate through a forest of unhealthy choices, and even write down silly ones that come to mind.
STEP #2
Prioritize your brainstormed list.
Look over all that you written down and start Numbering those items from #1 on up based on how important you believe that action step is to reaching your goal. Once you have done this you will take each action step and start working on each one starting with #1. If it’s an ongoing action then start to implement it into you life on a regular basis and then move onto the next.
So far I’ve gotten half way through my list towards my goal! Hang it up somewhere so you can see it for easy reference. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing some of the action steps that have been especially helpful for me.
Here are a few ideas to give you a head start on your brain dump!
Find a Notebook to Keep track of progress: I like to keep track of food eaten, the number on the scale, measurements, and inspiring quotes.
Start an Exercise Routine – 30-45 minutes of moderate exercise each day is perfect for both losing weight and maintaining once you’ve reached your goal.
Drink More Water – Drink plenty of water, at least 64 oz. I will choose to drink 80-100 oz a day.
Renew Relationships – It’s time to get out of the house and visit with your friends and family. Spend the day with people you love, and schedule regular outings to enjoy the outdoors.
What are some ideas you brainstormed?
